Aena prioritises sustainability in its Strategic Plan 2022-2026
The continuous development of its aeronautical and commercial business, the diversification of its international activity and the reactivation of airport cities and surrounding businesses are Aena’s main objectives. The company also seeks to promote the economic activity of airports and their adjacent commercial establishments.
The Chairman and CEO, Maurici Lucena, stressed the importance of sustainability as an interdisciplinary component for its growth. During the General Shareholders’ Meeting, he highlighted that one of its most significant achievements in 2022 was the approval of the 2022-2026 Strategic Plan.
The Plan aims to recover pre-pandemic traffic levels and increase commercial revenues by 23% by 2026. It also seeks to acquire assets that will generate a 5% increase in EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortisation) in the international market, while trying to restore the 2019 figures. Finally, it is aiming for a net debt/EBITDA ratio close to 2x by 2026.
