Bizkaia’s capital airport has opened a new single arrivals hall, where passengers from the European Union and third countries such as the United Kingdom, Turkey, Egypt and Morocco, among others, will converge. Thus, from now on users, regardless of their place of origin, will exit through the old international arrivals gate, located on the left-hand side of the terminal building.

This work involves the incorporation of the National Police’s technology for automatic passport control, as the number of ABC machines (equipment that performs a documentary and facial and/or fingerprint verification of persons of legal age and with ID cards or electronic passports resident in the Schengen area) in the arrivals hall has been doubled. In addition, two new document control stations have been installed. The work has also been used to renovate one of the baggage reclaim hippodromes and to create a new toilet block in the arrivals area.

The Bilbao aerodrome is preparing its facilities for the entry into force of the new EU Entry-Exit System, which will electronically record the time and place of entry and exit of people from third countries.
