Bilbao Airport offers a new route to Lyon from this week

It is now possible to travel to Lyon (France) from Bilbao Airport, through a new route operated by the airline Volotea. The Biscayan infrastructure offers from this week two weekly flights to the Saint Exupéry aerodrome, on Thursdays and Sundays, thus connecting the territory with a total of 60 domestic and international destinations.

The company plans to offer 12,000 seats until the end of the year, in addition to making special flights available to travelers on Tuesdays and Fridays during the Christmas season (from December 22 to January 5, 2024).

This new route is in addition to nine others that Volotea has launched or announced for the course of this year from Bilbao:

  • March: Florence and Rome.
  • May: Marrakech, Faro, Santorini and Olbia.
  • September: Lyon.
  • October: Tenerife South and Gran Canaria.
  • November: Paris Orly.

In total, 20 new routes have already been announced for this year, including some operating for the first time from the terminal – such as Warsaw, Riga, Marrakech, Azores, Olbia, Lyon and Tenerife South. The others are routes that had been temporarily suspended during the pandemic – such as Vienna, Funchal, Rome, Florence or Prague -, or connections that already existed but have also been integrated by new airlines – such as Hamburg (Vueling), Zurich (Vueling), Brussels (Vueling), Faro (Volotea and Vueling) and Gran Canaria (Vueling).
