Bilbao Airport completes another historic May

Bilbao Airport is making good progress in its statistics. For a long time now, month after month it has been surpassing its best figures. And last May was no exception. In the fifth month of 2024, La Paloma has once again beaten its historical figure of passengers. A total of 615,774 passengers passed through La Paloma’s facilities, making it the best May in its history.

The data, made public this Wednesday by Aena, confirm that this figure represents a very significant increase of 7.8% over May 2023 and more than 13% over May 2019. This is undoubtedly an outstanding indication of the good moment Bilbao Airport is going through. The summer season is expected to be extremely positive.

By type of passenger, domestic passengers reached 350,224, an increase of 2.4% compared to the same period a year ago. International passengers increased by 16.1% to 264,762 passengers during the month of May.

This was possible thanks to the 4,831 landing and take-off operations that took place, 1.1% more than a year ago.

So far in 2024, Bilbao Airport has registered 2,506,678 passengers, 12.8% more than from January to May 2023. In addition, it has reached 19,940 landing and take-off movements, 4.2% more than in the same period last year.
