Bilbao Airport, the most punctual airport in Europe in 2024

Punctuality is one of the circumstances that travellers value most when it comes to flying. For this reason, they are often guided by previous experiences when choosing an airline or airport. In this sense, Bilbao Airport is to be congratulated, as the latest Eurocontrol report has designated it as the most punctual airport in Europe so far in 2024.

La Paloma has a punctuality rate of 85.3%. A very positive figure indeed. Especially considering that one out of every five flights in Spain has suffered a delay in the first half of the year. At the national level, this means that 20.8% of flights have not been on time. This is also the main reason for complaints filed by airline users, reaching 40%.

In the ranking provided by Eurocontrol, Spain is the eighth country in terms of punctuality levels at its airports (79.2%). This ranking is headed by northern European countries. Norway (82.8%) is first, followed by Sweden (82.2) and Denmark (80.8%).

As for the punctuality of Spanish airports, behind Bilbao Airport are Seville Airport (81.8%), which is ninth at European level, and Madrid Airport, eleventh, with a punctuality index of 81.6%.

In 12th position is Valencia airport (81.4% punctuality) and in 14th position is Ibiza airport (81.2% punctuality). To find Barcelona airport, you have to go down to 32nd position in the ranking, with a 79.3% punctuality rate.
