Bilbao Airport adds another historic June with more than 653,000 passengers

There is not a month in which Bilbao Airport does not improve its historical figures. An iron health confirmed this Friday with the passenger traffic data for the month of June provided by Aena. In the sixth month of the year, 653,238 passengers passed through La Paloma. A figure that makes it the best June in the history of the Biscayan aerodrome.

To appreciate the importance of this figure, it is enough to compare it with June 2023. At that time, Bilbao Airport surpassed the barrier of 600,000 passengers for the first time. An increasingly common figure, which was already reached last May and which is growing steadily. Compared to last year (604,247), the increase is more than 8%. Compared to 2019, the jump is almost 12%.

This positive progression in the volume of passengers transported at Bilbao Airport is possible thanks to the fact that both domestic and international passengers have also continued to increase.

The number of domestic commercial passengers grew by 2%, to 364,459 passengers. The same is true of international passengers, which increased in June with a rise of 17.1%, reaching 287,944 commercial passengers.

Similarly, the number of flights operated at Bilbao Airport has also increased. In total, there have been 4,908 landing and take-off movements, 3.1% more than in June 2023.

Accumulated data up to June

Operations in the first half of the year have reached 24,848 aircraft movements, 4% more than in the same period last year. Meanwhile, passenger traffic has registered 3,159,916 passengers, 11.8% more than from January to June 2023.
