Iván Grande: “The airport’s capacity must be adapted to the expected passenger flow”
‘Bilbao Airport still has room for growth. People’s priorities include flying, going on holiday, and this means that the numbers are very good’, said Iván Grande, director of the Biscayan aerodrome, during an interview granted this Tuesday to the Boulevard programme on Radio Euskadi.
An important part of the ‘blame’ for the good performance of Bilbao Airport is the ‘deseasonalisation’. Grande explained that ‘the months of September, October and November are taking a lot of passengers. Also March and April. We are extending the summer campaign to other months that usually were not’.
In this sense, Bilbao Airport faces the challenge of adapting ‘to the flow of passengers that is expected’. ‘We have to be ambitious’, says Iván Grande, with his sights set on the expansion of the terminal in Bizkaia.
During the interview, Iván Grande also hinted that ‘there are always new routes on the grid and soon we will know about some new ones, for sure’.
